Rehab for Total Joint Replacements: From Shoulder to Hip to Knee (on-demand webinar)

Course Description

This is a 2 1/2  hour webinar designed for beginning to intermediate physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and athletic trainers.  Method of instruction will include written materials and demonstrative videos.  After completion of this webinar, the participant will be competent in shoulder, hip and knee anatomy, surgical procedures and variances for each joint and how it effects rehabilitation.  Participant will also learn proper rehabilitation exercises for each joint and how to progress these patients based on their symptoms.   After successful completion of this webinar, the clinician will be proficient in successfully rehabilitating a patient recovering from total hip, shoulder or knee surgery.  This course is relevant to any therapist or trainer who assists in the rehabilitation of a total joint replacement patients.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the participant will:

  • Understand the basic anatomy of the shoulder, hip and knee.
  • Understand surgical options for shoulder, hip and knee OA.
  • Formulate a treatment program for post-operative rehab after total shoulder, hip or knee surgeries.
  • Be educated in up to date research on OA for shoulder, hip and knee pathologies.

Instructor - Jaime Holt, PT, MPT, SCS, CSCS

Jaime Holt, PT, MPT, SCS, CSCS is a sports orthopedic physical therapist with over 14 years of clinical experience. He received his MPT from East Carolina University in 1999 as well as a BS in Exercise Physiology in 1995 and Master’s in Adapted Physical Education in 1997. Over his career, he has rehabilitated and trained athletes in the NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL, PGA, MMA and a variety of higher level collegiate and high school athletes.

Currently, Jaime is the owner of Holt Physical Therapy in Raleigh, NC.  Prior to opening his own practice, Jaime was a sports orthopedic PT at the Athletic Performance Center in Raleigh, North Carolina and the PT for the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.  In October 2010, Jaime traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia and Helsinki, Finland to be the PT for the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere with the Carolina Hurricanes and was named the PT for the 2011 NHL All Star Game in Raleigh.

Jaime has authored “Breaking the Ice” in Advance for PT Magazine and been quoted in “Lighting the Lamp” in Advance for PT Magazine. He has authored a previous webinar entitled “Managing Shoulder Pain.” In addition he has spoken on such topics as “Prevention of ACL Injuries”, “Prevention of Injuries for Runners”, “Role of PT in Professional Sports”, “Role of PT in the National Hockey League”, and “How Can a PT and ATC Work Together?” He was also a speaker and moderator at Friesen Physio fitness Summit 2010 .

He has attended numerous continuing education courses relative to the shoulder & knee including but not limited to: Cincinnati Sports Medicine Advances in Knee and Shoulder, Kevin Wilk’s Shoulder Rehab, Miller Orthopedic Clinic’s Shoulder Symposium and Gary Gray ChainReaction Explosion.


  • Satisfactory completion of this course will require the participant to pass a 10 question post test with a minimum score of 70%.
